Keeps playing, screen off

Video and audio keep playing when you lock your phone or switch apps, and you control playback from the Lock Screen and Control Center. Background Playback is on from the start, and you can turn it off in Settings.

A player that stays close

Now Playing has large artwork, a scrubber, skip back and forward (10, 15 or 30 seconds), speed from 0.5× to 2×, the Timer and Loop. Pick a speed once and it's remembered for that website.

Pick up where you left off

Video and audio of 5 minutes or more reopen where you left off, and Continue Listening on Home takes you straight back. Home also keeps your shortcuts and the pages you visited recently.

Fall asleep with the Timer.

The Timer stops playback after 5 to 90 minutes, or at the end of the video, so you can drift off listening.

Questions

Is background playback free?

Yes. Background playback, Picture in Picture, AirPlay and the Timer are always free. ScreenOff Pro is an optional one-time purchase, not a subscription. It removes the ads and adds five more accent colours and three alternate app icons.

Can I download videos?

No. ScreenOff plays the video and audio on the websites you visit; it doesn't download or save media.

Why does one website behave differently?

Websites run their own players, so a few work differently from others. ScreenOff doesn't change website content.

Which devices does it run on?

iPhone and iPad with iOS or iPadOS 18 or later. There's no Mac version.
